Why Content is Still king for Both SEO and Social Media

By Nimit On April 1, 2010 No Comments

If you think that by just rewriting articles you will hit the front page or by building more links you will get the good rankings in SEO then you are still living in your dream world.

Google’s Personalized Results

If you are active online then you might know that Google has launched the personalized search results. It means that if you search for a keyword “best wordpress plugins” there are good chances that you will get different result from your friend who is just sitting next to you. If you want to know more about Google personalized search update then click here.

Social Media

Let’s talk about social media now, you know that hitting the front page is also getting tougher these days and until or unless you don’t have quality or interesting content that would grab the attention of social media users then it’s really hard to get traffic from social media.

I also want to tell you that Google also counts the site popularity in social media in order to rank it higher on their SERPs. As you know Google counts a link as a vote to the site and it’s their way to measure the popularity of a site, more links you have means more people voted you and like the content of your site.

This is the basic rule that Google still follows in order to rank a website and social media is the best place to know the popularity of a subject. For example, if I write a post that gets good Re Tweets, diggs, facebook shares etc then what it tells Google that my content is valuable and many people liked that content. So to get the higher rankings in search engines you also need to make a good presence in social media too.

Conclusion

So, moral of the story so far is that Google results are personalized now, Google counts sites popularity in social media in order to rank it and it’s very hard to hit the front page or get RT for a poor content. So, in order to get traffic and make money just focus on your content more than building links so that it will get viral and increase the authority of your site.
