By Nimit On January 21, 2010 Under Affiliate Marketing, Blogging, How To, Make Money Online

Which is the best niche to start affiliate marketing or how to find a profitable niche to start a online business? This is the most common or popular question among newbies and when I first came into online marketing around 2 years back I also researched  on internet  very much to find the answer of these question. I asked this question on forums, watched lots of online marketing videos and read lots educational stuff about online marketing. I spent many hours surfing online to find the answers of this question and later on I have realized that I was only wasting my time in reading the stuff. I was not taking any action and using all the knowledge to find a niche that I have gathered after researching many hours online and after that moment, I just minimized my learning time and started taking  some actions to find a niche on the basis of  knowledge that I have had that time. So check out my explanation for finding a profitable niche that will surely help you in finding your profitable niche to start affiliate marketing in order to find your profitable niche or offers to promote.

What are the factors of a profitable niche?

Many people who have been looking to find a profitable niche to start their online business  must have came across  to “web hosting” niche. Web hosting is one of the most profitable niche in online world.  But, is this niche really a profitable for you? there is no doubt that it is one of the most lucrative niche but it’s very hard to compete in this niche so whenever you look for a niche to start affiliate marketing do research the level of competition in that. So if the competition is beyond your ability to handle then its better to move on to a smaller niche because the best profitable niche for you which will give you the maximum ROI (return on investment).

I also like to mention one more thing here that  if your planning to start affiliate marketing via blogging then your interest about that topic also matters very much, because in order to make it successful you need to maintain and update your blog regularly and without any interest or passion its impossible to do.

Where I can go to find these lucrative niches?

As you already know that online world is very big and opportunities are endless here. There are probably many hidden niches that you may choose to start your online career.The best way to find a  niche that will fit into the competition and ROI criteria, is to get an account on some of the best affiliate networks and start browsing their products or offers. For example, neverblue has the best dating offers to promote that comes under the “dating category”, and under that you can find a subniche that is “single parents dating”.

You can also go to ebay pulse and shopping.com to browse many subniches . I would also suggest you not to go for a broader niche, always try to dig deeper and find a subniche. In the starting it may sound not good to you, I am saying this because of personal experience but do try it and you will really get surprised with the results.

How to estimate the competition?

There are several tools that available online, most of them are free that will help you to estimate the competition. But, before going to estimate the competition you need to decide your traffic source. If you are mainly dependent on search engines to get traffic then you need to look for organic competition and calculate the competition based on that. You can use a free tool  called SEO for firefox that will make this process easy for you and if your main source of traffic is google adwords or other PPC search engines then the following formula will help you to decide the profitabilty of a particular offer.

Formula with Example:

Suppose if a offer has a 5% conversions rate and  $20 payout/conversion that means you will have 5 conversions on 100 clicks.

Now you need to find the EPC to know if you can make this campign profitable for your or not.

EPC = Total Earning/Total Clicks

$100/100 = $1

It means in order to make this campaign profitable by even 1%. You need to get a click at $0.99 if you are sending traffic directly.

If you don’t have much experience with paid affiliate marketing and have limited amount of money then I would suggest you to learn SEO and drive traffic to your site.

I hope all the above points will help you to find a profitable niche. Please do let me know if you have any question about finding a profitable niche also dont forget to share your opinion  about this post.
