When people drink, at times they forget to draw a line and why should they even do that when they are out there to have some fun? A hangover is the price you have to pay for a fun night out. Hangovers can leave us feeling very irritated and annoyed. They cause a lot of headache, body ache and constant dryness in the mouth. It also interferes with our day to day work and causes a lot of dizziness but like every other problem, hangovers also have a cure. To get a better understanding of what will work on a hangover, we need to know what happens to our body when we have too much booze.
Basically, when we consume alcohol, it tends to dry our entire system and dehydrate the body which causes the heavy headedness. But you can’t let a hangover hold you back from letting your hair down and having fun with friends. Here are some quick fixes for curing hangovers:

Drink lots of water before and after drink:
Hangovers are primarily caused due to a body-water disbalance. When you drink alcohol, it tends to dry out our system thereby causing the head throbbing and dry mouth. So, it becomes very important to constantly keep yourself hydrated. If you are planning to have a party or going to one tonight, start drinking water. If you are already feeling the after effects of a crazy night out, drink some more water. Don’t drink too much at one go though because that might make you puke. Drink water at regular intervals. There’s no hard and fast rule about curing a hangover with an energy drink but you can if you want to. It works as much as water does to you can actually save some money by drinking water instead.
Have a healthy breakfast:
Once you have washed your face and drank some water, prepare a nice and healthy breakfast for yourself. A breakfast that is high in proteins and vitamins is advisable. You can eat an omelette, a glass of juice and a banana. Throw in some tomatoes for additional vitamins. Even though this breakfast sounds heavy, it’ll satisfy the hunger that follows a hangover and it’ll also give your body some much needed nutrients. However, make sure the food isn’t greasy because the greasier the food, the slower the alcohol absorption and the longer the hangover will take to go away.
Drink coffee:
Even though caffeine isn’t the first thing you should be groping for everyday (not that this knowledge stops anyone), when experiencing a hangover, it is one of the best remedies.Even though caffeine doesn’t cure the hangover, it makes it easier to deal with. The caffeine in coffee makes the headache more bearable. So if you ever get up with a heavy head, you’ll know it’s time to turn the coffee machine on.
Aspirin:
Take an aspirin or two (depending on your state). Aspirin is a tried and tested remedy and it always works on headaches. Drink water in small sips with the aspirin. You can also take ibuprofen for the same purpose. However, I would suggest that you consult a doctor to know if ibuprofen is more advisable than aspirin because some painkillers have a damaging effect on the liver so you must choose carefully. In addition, make sure you take a painkiller the day you have the hangover. Painkillers and alcohol don’t really work well together so don’t take one after you come home in the night.

Take a shower:
Once you’ve had a hearty breakfast, sipped a cup of coffee and taken some painkiller, treat yourself to a hot bath. Make sure the water is lukewarm. Cold water doesn’t help in case of body aches. On the contrary, at times it increases it. So, convert your bathroom into a mini sauna and drown yourself into a hot bath. Add some bubbles for fun and relaxation. Keep washing your head in warm water to release some of the headache. Run warm water around the nape of your neck and your back. These are crucial pressure points. And most importantly, do not rush the bath. Take your own time and relax.
Have a lunch full of carbs:
Carbohydrates help in increasing the blood glucose level quickly. That in turn provides the much required energy to the body. So, for lunch, have a ham/chicken sandwich. That will give you some more proteins and some carbohydrates as well. It is very important to not skip meals because less nutrients can slow the process of recovery. In fact, have glass of juice or water between meals. Coconut milk is a great beverage to have with lunch to cure a hangover. It provides wholistic nourishment which is exactly what you need during a hangover and it has a reputation for being a hangover remedy.
Relax:
When you make so many alterations to your diet while looking for the perfect hangover cure, stop and just relax. You need to rest sufficiently in order to allow your body to regain some energy. Lie down and watch TV or go off to sleep. But make sure you take some time out to do absolutely nothing. You can also apply a soothing face pack and rest with it for some time.
Avoid exercising:
As mentioned in the earlier point, it is very important to rest when you experience a hangover. However, some people rest during the entire day and then hit the gym in the evening. Going to the gym is great for your overall health and it’s a great stress buster as well but it doesn’t go with a hangover. However, if you do choose to go to the gym in the evening, carry a bottle of water and keep yourself hydrated at all times.
Turn the volume down:
Hangover demands a quiet environment for recovery so shut out all the sounds. Before you go to take some rest, Close the windows, cover them with curtains, put your phone on silent mode unless you are expecting an important call so that you don’t get disturbed by anything. If you have some soothing music on hand, you can play that to better help you to relax.
