A good night’s sleep is very important for the body to function normally during the day. In addition, it is also important to maintain a healthy system. Lack of sleep reflects on your face and in your attitude so give your body the rest it deserves. There is a lot you can do from your end to ensure a peaceful and undisturbed slumber. Adjust the room temperature:
The optimal room temperature is very important for an undisturbed and peaceful night. Try to keep the temperature as close to 18° Celsius as possible. If the room is too hot, you will keep waking up in the middle of the night because of it and if the room is very cold, you will keep shivering so even if you don’t wake up while every now and then, you will experience a body ache in the morning.
Maintain a journal:
A sleep journal is a great idea to keep a track of your sleeping hours and your sleep pattern. It’s nothing but a notebook where you can record the time you go to sleep and the time you wake up. You can also write down any additional points against each day such as the days when your sleep is constantly disrupted or if you wake up tired. It will help you to keep track of your sleeping pattern so that you can decide what works best for your sleep.
Make sure your bed is welcoming:
The bed plays a very crucial role in encouraging an undisturbed night of sleep. If your bed is too hard for you, you may find difficulty in falling asleep or you might wake up with a body ache. The same thing can happen if your bed is very soft so choose your mattress wisely.
Use colors that are reassuring and calm:
Since your bedroom is basically the place where you relax and rest, make sure the room isn’t painted very brightly. Colors have a deep impact on the way we think. Colors like bright red or bright orange should be avoided because they keep us alert for longer and don’t feel very welcoming (for a night of undisturbed sleep). Paint the walls in shades of blue, light mauve or creamy yellow to encourage more sleep.
Keep the lights dimmed:
A bright light can completely rob you of any sleep that comes your way so try to keep your bedroom dimly lit. Avoid blue lights. If you don’t have the option of changing your bedroom lights, install a dimmer switch and dim the lights before you plan to sleep. Sitting in a dimly lit room will automatically make you feel drowsy.
Sleep around comforting fabrics:
The fabrics you have around you are very important for a good sleep. Make sure your comforter, blanket and pillow cover are made of soft, luxurious fabrics. Soft fabrics are very inviting and they can practically put you to sleep.
Keep your bedroom clutter free:
Your senses remain alert even when you go off to sleep. Firstly, it will be difficult to sleep in a room that is cluttered with a wide array of things. A messy room signifies worry and tension thus, the mess. So, clean your bedroom frequently and keep it furnished in accordance with your requirements. Let your furniture reflect your taste but don’t stuff your room with it.
Make sure the bedroom is well ventilated and scented:
This is very important for relaxing. Air needs to flow freely in order to make you feel at ease. Don’t keep the windows closed all the time. Let air pass through and use a scented air purifier so that you feel welcomed in your bedroom by the alluring scent.
Keep distractions out of the room:
Switch off your television set at least an hour before you go off to sleep. Noise and light disrupts sleep. Sleep in the dark with the doors closed:
